Free opensource antivirus available for Windows

In this current vulnerable online world one must protect his most valuable data from cyber criminals. There are many ways to protect ones data from getting disclosed to hackers by simply following some rules which I will discuss in my next blog. However, today I will share some free anti viruses available in the market to safe guard your data.

1. ClamAV

     ClamAV is an opensource antivirus for both Linux and Windows environment. Multiple features includes eMail scanning, built in support for various archive scanning, built-in feature to scan different document formats, database updater and command-line scanner etc.

2. Clamwin

      Clamwin is free antivirus program for Windows 10 / 8 / 7 / Vista / XP /Me / 2000 / 98 and Windows Server 2012, 2008 and 2003. It is basically an anti-virus software based on ClamAV engine. It comes with easy to use installer, automatic updater, built-in feature of scanning attachments of Outlook messages. However, It doesn't have automatic USB drive scanner facility but most of the features works well and detect most of the viruses.

3. Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essential 

      Windows defender or Microsoft Security Essential is in-house development of Windows to safeguard malware attack on their OS. It is completely free and works fine if you are a great surfer of internet who click any random links available. It can detect most of the malicious software. Automatic search for USB devices is available.

 4. Nixory

Nixory is one of the open source anti-spyware tool to protect your browsers. Till date it is available for Firefox and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.
